Discuss Program Theme and style
We discussed the idea that we had at the last meeting (Student Life) and came to the conclusion that that would be a bit too easy, in that we could just take someone from the corridor, talk to them and that could count as an interview. Something challenging would be a better thing to go for.
An idea that the three of us present settled on and liked, is the theme of live events. Every package will focus on different aspects of a live event; one on organising it, one on promoting it and selling the merchandise, one on the nerves a performer feels before they go onstage, one on the actual gig and one on what’s next featuring everyone interviewed in the previous packages. That gives us 5 packages, and as one member of our group has since left, that’s all we need.
Discuss individual Package ideas
The initial package ideas that we came up with to go with the new theme, were as follows.
- Putting together a Live Event – choosing a venue, why this event and choosing the acts for the event.
- Promotion and Merchandise – how an event is promoted, the power of merchandising and more.
- Nerves & anticipation before the gig – talking to a psychologist about what people are actually feeling at this point, how an act feels, how excited the fans are.
- The Gig – what goes on behind the scenes (tech guys, etc)
- What’s Next? - talking to the people involved in previous packages and more.
Action Points
Talk to the members of the group who were not in attendance during this meeting, and ask them how they feel about the new idea and if they’d like to make any changes, find out what they are. And then settle on something, so we can all get working on our individual packages.
